Hollywood Casino Jamul Unveils Tony Gwynn's Sports Pub
California Jamul Indian Village of California (JIV) and a wholly owned subsidiary of Penn National Gaming on Tuesday announced dining options available at Jamul, a Hollywood casino in San Diego, including the first Tony Gwyn theme sports bar, "Tony Gwynn's Sports Pub."
With the casino expected to open in mid-2016, Tony Gwynn's sports pub will feature significant memorabilia from the greatest athlete of San Diego's history.
"We are excited to partner with the Gwyn family to present 'Mr. Padre's incredible collection of awards, uniforms, and personal memorabilia for our customers to enjoy," said Richard St. Jean, general manager of Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego.
"It's surreal to have the first Tony Gwynne themed sports bar in our casino," said Michael Hunter, the executive director of Jamul Indian Village. "I grew up watching and cheering for the Padres, and Tony Gwynne was one of my heroes. It will be an honor to have his souvenir from the Hollywood casino, and we are so grateful for the partnership with Alicia Gwynne and her family."
A variety of Gwynn's memorabilia will be on display throughout the restaurant, including a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award, his personal narration of career highlights, uniforms and gear used in the game, and more. You can click here to see the rendering of Tony Gwynn's sports pub.
"I am very excited to share Tony's legacy with visitors to the Jamul Indian Village and future Hollywood casinos," said Alicia Gwynn. "Tony was not only a great player, but also a special person. It will be great to see his achievements highlighted in East County."
Alicia Gwynn is the president of the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children. Her work with the foundation reflects the goals of JIV's fledgling charity, Acons to Oaks.
"We are proud to work with Alicia Gwynn to highlight her husband's career and support their efforts with the less fortunate," said Erica Pinto, president of Jamul Indian Village. "Our charitable interests are aligned and we look forward to working with her foundation to support the larger San Diego community."
JIV is collaborating with Penn National Gaming to develop and operate Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego, a $400 million gaming facility in the Tribe's sovereign territory in Jamul, about 20 miles east of downtown San Diego on Route 94. The casino will feature about 1,700 slot machines and 43 live table games.
Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego has also announced additional dining options available at the facility. They include:
Final Cut Steak & Seafood - a contemporary American steakhouse that offers hand cuts to order USDA Wagyu and Prime Beef, fresh and local seafood, and a wide wine list.
Emerald Chinese Cuisine - San Diego's first dim sum and Cantonese-style restaurant are heading to East County to share their popular dishes.
Tretaceria – Customers will be able to enjoy the best tacos and burritos in Southern California.
